Don’t get lost in the woods. When you learn navigation, you’ll know where you are and where you have been and how to find the best route to get where you want to go. This class teaches small craft navigation skills applicable to canoes, kayak, small craft and hikers. You’ll learn to read topo maps and marine charts. Additionally, the course covers magnetic deviation, piloting, dead reckoning, ranges, bearings, fixes, triangulating and selecting courses. Required equipment: An inexpensive baseplate compass, like the Silva Starter. Optional: Small Craft Nav-Aid.
