Celebrate a full year of northern Minnesota’s beauty with my 2027 landscape calendar. Each month features one of my favorite photograph from the northland. These images highlight the unique landscapes, waterways, and wilderness of Cook County and the Lake Superior region.
The calendar features US Federally recognized holidays and Minnesota holidays, full and new moon dates, and meteor storms. The dates for these items are calculated using NASA’s SKYCAL based on Central Standard Time and Daylight Saving Time for part of the year. Some sources disagree on the peak dates and times for meteor showers. This calendar defaults to NASA.
For 2026, the calendar features new images from: Grand Marais, Grand Marais Campground, Hovland, the Lake Superior Hiking Trail, Temperance River, Cascade River, a Cook County Creek, the Boundary Waters, the Border Route, Lookout Mountain, Shovel Point, and the Brule River. Each photo was taken within the last year and showcases the natural beauty, seasonal changes, and outdoor adventure opportunities across northern Minnesota.

October: Stunning fall color as seen from White Sky Rock near Lutsen.
November: The soft sunrise light paints The Rock golden while the long exposure makes the moving Lake Superior water look like fog. Near Hovland.
December: Sunset from Grand Marais over an icy shoreline. In the distance the sun sets behind the Sawtooth Mountains.
