I love it when a plan for a photo comes together after a year of waiting. Last year, I got the assignment to go take this shot of the Milky Way next to the Split Rock Lighthouse. But, the plan never came together because of clouds and my busy fall schedule. This year, it worked!
The night was perfect. While it was windy, the stars were bright (until the northern lights came out!) and the Milky Way was bright despite the city lights of Two Harbors washing part of the night sky out. I even saw a massive fireball shoot across the sky over Lake Superior.
I think it was worth the wait to get a shot of the prettiest lighthouse on the Great Lakes with the Milky Way in the shot. Wasn’t it worth it?
