Just enough sea smoke over Lake Superior created a diffuse glow around the sun at sunset last night. Two to 3-foot waves crashed into the cliffs below me as I balanced on the edge of an icy cliff to get this shot. One of the bigger sets of waves created the water motion captured in this shot.
To prevent myself from falling into the lake when traveling on the frozen shores next to the lake, I wear mountaineering crampons on my leather mountaineering boots. These are the same tools that I use when ice climbing. It feels great to be surefooted on the ice.
