This morning I went to Cascade River State Park to watch the sunrise over Lake Superior. The clouds on the horizon reminded me of the build up of sea smoke and lake-effect snow that we see as we come into the winter months. I’m so excited for winter photography on Lake Superior, because it really is the best month for creating amazing images on the north shore.
For this sunrise, the color came and left early, but I decided to wait around for 30 minutes to see what would happen when the sun broke over the clouds. I’m glad I waited, because the sunburst was awesome! Sometimes, photography is waiting and hard work. This morning, it was all about the wait.
