Early Winter Blue Hour

Waves wash up the basalt shoreline near Grand Marais, Minnesota during the blue hour on an early winter day. I like to think of this rock as Brett’s Rock, because on one of my photography workshops, a participant named Brett and I stood here and shot as the sunset turned blue, and even as it got dark. I returned to the location to shoot a similar shot in early winter. The rocks were covered in ice and the bigger waves washed up and threatened to sweep me away.
