I shot this image of the Cascades at Cascade River State Park. It’s rarer than not that the bottom falls split like this. If the water is any higher, the falls spread completely across the opening. If the water is any lower, the righthand falls dry up. I’ve only shot it with a split like this a couple of times and I think it makes the waterfall prettier than if it doesn’t have the split.
Gray days like we’re having lately make perfect days for waterfall photography, because the gray sky acts like a huge softbox and makes such gorgeous diffused light. Yesterday was about perfect, because it was a great sunrise and then it got overcast, so that made for great conditions for waterfall photography.
