Bentleyville and Two Ships

We stayed in Duluth until dark to photograph Bentleyville. As we were driving to the place I wanted to photograph the lights display, we saw these two freighters coming into harbor. I wanted to photograph the park in a slightly different area, but had to improvise and shoot at this not ideal location. The first freighter is the combo of a barge and tug, the Great Lakes Trader & Joyce L. VanEnkevort and the second is the Thunder Bay.

It’s amazing how huge these freighters really are and it’s apparent from this angle when you compare the Thunder Bay, the second ship, to the Duluth lighthouse and lift bridge. The lighthouse is 43 feet tall above chart (normal water level).

Note: because the location wasn’t ideal, I’ve removed a twig from the shot. If you want the unedited shot with the twig, please, request that via email. Otherwise, I’m printing the edited version.
