The March moon is known as the Crow Moon (or Worm Moon), because it’s when the birds start to come back north, so you notice the crows more often. I went to the Grand Marais to watch the moon rise behind the lighthouse and over Lake Superior. Another photographer friend of mine showed up to do the same. The night was setting up perfectly except for all the clouds that were moving in. We started to think that we wouldn’t get the moon, but then it showed up! When it ducked behind these clouds, it made for the perfect picture. Both of us were so excited that this happened that I think you would have thought we were school kids on the playground.
