For the Full Crow Moon I visited The Tombolo near Grand Marais. On Friday, I was able to walk out onto the ice at this location. Last night I was surprised when I got to the beach that almost all the ice had turned to slush and fractured chunks caught in Lake Superior’s waves.
The wind felt brutal gusting to gales as I stood waiting for the moon to rise. It made for extremely hard shooting conditions. Almost impossible to get a sharp shot with a telephoto lens. The sustained winds were blowing the tripod and lens around. I waited for a lull in the wind to capture this shot.
