This is what it looked like this morning at Cascade River State Park as the sun “rose” over Lake Superior.
At sunrise, it was grey but I was sitting down, the weather was warm and I tucked away against a cliff out of the wind. So, I decided to check email and after answering a few I just sat there. I had one of those aha! moments when it occurred to me that I feel more at home sitting on the shore of Lake Superior in the middle of winter than I do in the house that I own. (I’m sure there is a haiku in that somewhere. Next month is National Haiku Writing Month (the shortest poems in the shortest month). I think I’m going to participate this year. It will be my third year doing it.) After I thought about that for awhile, I looked up and the sun was about to peak out from behind the clouds.
