Off to a Cra%^& Start to the Month

Well, maybe I should have cleaned before taking this picture. Here is the first picture for Fisheye February. D200, 10.5mm DX, SB-800 plus a cheap blue plastic cup used as a diffuser. Shot at f/7.1 and 30 seconds. The flash was shot at full power in a dark bathroom. The blue cast comes from a blue plastic cup I purchased at Ben Franklin. The white balance was set for flash. Despite the long exposure, there is almost no noise. I just love the D200s in camera long exposure noise reduction.

Fisheye February

In February, I’m challenging myself to shoot all my personal work with a full frame fisheye lens (10.5). I find the fisheye is one of the hardest focal lengths to use, because it often looks over done. I also find that when done right a fisheye can provide an outstanding perspective on the world.

I’ll have two exemptions for February:

I’ll use normal focal lengths for the Winter Photo Workshop (Feb 8-10) at Lutsen Resort. BTW, there are several spaces available and Lutsen Resort is opening the workshop up to the public and not just their guests for $180 for all three days. More Info

I have another project that I’m working on that will not involve the fisheye.

I challenge everyone that has a fisheye to confining their focal length to it in February.
