Birch Bark in Ice

D200, Lensbaby Composer, Plastic Optic. I’ve been shooting a bit with the new Lensbaby Composer.

BTW: I’m trying out a new look on the website. The new look changes colors to compliment the displayed image. It also only displays one image per page, which means that some of the old blog posts are only going to show the first image in the post. They rest will be lost unless I figure out a way to include them as thumbnails below. I’m really digging the changing colors. The other bug is the gallery. I have to display an image above the thumbnails to make it work out right.

Overall I really like the new layout. It’s certainly simpler, which I find appealing. It does seem a bit “skinny” horizontally, but that’s just a personal impression. Changing colors for the background is nice. I enjoy color contrasts in the image here. Good eye to catch it!

Thanks, Joel. I still have a few tweaks to make. It’s a bit more demanding on the server, but I love the changing colors. It seems a bit quirky at times, so I’m going to have to investigate that. It is a bit narrow at about 600 pixels, but it works for 800px monitors which is an up, I suppose.

I’m feeling a little more humble this winter, so the theme is suppose to reflect that mood.

Humble? In what sense, just curious? If I’m being to nosy, disregard my question. :)

Well, I’m getting ready for a big trip this next year: http://www.aroundthegreatlakes.com, and it feels very humbling to look at the trip I’m going to attempt. But when I think about it, I have to believe that almost anyone can do this stuff if they put their minds to it.

It’s also very humbling to know that people appreciate the photography I do, and I just want my websites to reflect that I’m just a normal guy who likes to do what I do.

It’s a little more of a feeling than I can put words to. I may try to capture this feeling in upcoming images…… Now that I write that, it seems to be a good project.

Wow, that’s exciting. What a great undertaking. I suppose most people could do it, but it’s generally pretty difficult for people to get over the initial hurdle of getting such a thing underway. I’m sure it seems overwhelming when you look at it in entirety. Yet it all starts like any other trip, just the scale and objective is different. I applaud you for stepping out and making it happen!
