Cascade State Park Sunrise

In Lake Superior, North Shore, Picture

Cascade State Park Sunrise

Cascade State Park is one of the most reliable places to get a good sunrise picture over Lake Superior. The shoreline there has so many interesting features that I’ve never been skunked at finding something new and interesting. I’ve shot the location in these pictures over a half a dozen times and am still finding new features. And it’s only about 100 feet long!

I agree that it’s a terrific place to shoot – and in all seasons. I especially like late summer once the sun begins to rise out over the lake (it rises behind the treeline in spring from what I recall). I’m a bit confused by your statement of 100 feet long though. I’ve photographed at Cascade River SP many times, and there’s actually quite a bit of terrain to explore if you’re willing to walk the shoreline trail that heads towards Grand Marais. I assume you’re simply referring to the shoreline adjacent to the picnic area.

Nice shots Bryan! What lens did you use?

The 100 feet is just the section that I’ve shot the most, not the extent of the whole shoreline. I just keep coming back to that same spot.

    I used the Nikon 12-24 f/4 DX.
