Guest Photographer and Kayaking
Today’s pictures come from Ilena. I made her come out with me and photograph my kayak as I tested some changes that I made to it. I’ve cropped a bit on some of them.
Me in 1 to 1.5 foot rollers just come around Artist’s Point in Grand Marais.
Me having just turned the boat about 120 degrees looking up for the camera and looking a little lazy in my form. Low brace turn. The modification I made to my kayak was removing a bit of the stern stem to loosen up tracking in leaned turns. It worked!
I launched in the harbor and had Ilena drive around to the East Bay where I can ashore. Here I am waiting for a set of waves to pass with their dumpers. I came in a smaller waves between the sets of bigger ones.
For those that don’t know, I do offer private and semi-private kayak instruction on Lake Superior and inland. I also guide kayaking for Lutsen Resort. My rates range from $85 to $150 for a six to eight hour course based on the number of people in the course. If you’re not an ACA member there is an additional $10 insurance fee. All courses require a $25 regestration fee to be split by the participants.
